Send locations

This article explains how to send a location or live location as a message attachment in the mobile app. It is also possible to have all sent messages automatically include your location. For more information, please refer to the article Send location data with messages.

Sending location data may be prohibited by the administration. If you do not see the functions described in this article, refer your administration to the article Additional organizational settings | GPS settings for mobile devices.

If you receive locations on your mobile device, you can export the locations to other applications, for example, to navigate there. No other personal data is sent when the location is transmitted.

In iOS

  1. Go to the desired conversation or channel.

  1. Tap the Add.svg icon at the bottom left of the message field.

  2. A series of file selection options will be displayed below the message field. Tap "Location".

  3. The "Location" view will open, showing your current location. At the bottom of the message field, you can choose between "One time," "15 minutes", "1 hour", and "8 hours". A live location will be sent for each time period. Select the option that is right for you. If necessary, scroll the selection line left or right with your finger to see all options.

  4. Press and hold your location marker and move it with your finger to correct any measurement inaccuracies.

  5. You can add a message text.

  1. Send the location by tapping the paper airplane.

On Android

  1. Go to the desired conversation or channel.

  1. Tap the icon at the bottom left of the message field.

  2. The "Attach files" menu will open at the bottom. Select "Location."

  1. The "Location" view will open, showing your current location. At the bottom above the message field, you can choose between "One time," "15 minutes," "1 hour," and "8 hours." A live location is sent for these time periods. Select the option that is right for you. If necessary, scroll the selection line to the left or right with your finger to see all options.

  2. You can move the pin by tapping it to correct any inaccuracies in the location.

  3. You can add a message text.
