Create conversations

You can create conversations with individual users or add up to nine other users to a group conversation, provided you have the appropriate permissions to create conversations.

You cannot remove users from a group conversation or add them to it. If you want these features or want to communicate with more than nine other people, create a channel instead. For more information, see the article Create a channel

Most user roles have permission to create conversations. As an admin, you can grant permissions. For more information, see the article: Edit and create user roles.

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on " Chat.Text.svg Chats”.

  1. Click on the Add.Circle.svg icon next to the term "Conversations".

  1. The "Create new conversation" view opens with a search field and a list of all users in your organization with whom you are allowed to communicate. Enter the name of the person you want to start a conversation with in the search field or search for the name in the list.

  2. Click on a name to add the user to the conversation.

  1. Once you have added all users, click on "Create conversation".

In iOS

  1. Tap the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu.

  1. Tap on " Chat.Text.svg Chats."

  1. Select "Conversations" at the bottom.

  1. Tap the Add.svg icon in the top right corner.

  1. The "New conversation" view opens with a search field and a list of all users in your organization with whom you are allowed to communicate. Enter the name of the person you want to start a conversation with in the search field or search for the name in the list.

  2. Tap on a name to add the user to the conversation.

  1. Once you have added all users, tap the check mark in the upper right corner.

In Android

  1. Tap on the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu.

  1. Tap on " Chat.Text.svg Chats."

  1. Select "Conversations" at the top or swipe left.

  1. Tap the Add.svg icon at the bottom right.

  1. The "New conversation" view opens with a search field and a list of all users in your organization with whom you are allowed to communicate. Enter the name of the person you want to start a conversation with in the search field or search for the name in the list.

  2. Tap on a name to add the user to the conversation.

  1. Once you have added all users, tap the check mark in the bottom right corner.
