Contact group channels (@Channels)

Contact group channels (@Channel) are created automatically by editing a contact group and checking the "Create channel" box. This must be done by the administration in the organization settings under "Contact groups." See also the article Contact groups .

Members of the corresponding contact group are automatically members of the contact group channel of the same name "[Name of contact group]". In the channel overview, the initials of the channel name appear instead of the # symbol for #Channels. (In some clients, such as iOS, an @ symbol is displayed there.)

After creation, there is no channel manager in an @Channel. Channel managers can only be appointed via the administration in the organization settings under "Channels" using the "Edit managers & members" option. For more information, see the article Edit manager status (Admin).

Messages in the @Channel are transport-encrypted.

The channel cannot be found via the channel search. (For members of the @Channel, it can still be displayed via the global search CTRL+K).

Members cannot leave the channel.

New members can only join by editing the contact group and adding the user. Likewise, members who are removed from the contact group are removed from the channel. See also the article Contact groups .
