#Channel:
#Channels are created manually by users.
There are four different #channel types. These are specified during creation and cannot be changed afterwards (with the exception of public ↔ password-protected, which can be done by the administration in the organization settings under "Channels").
All users who can create channels can select the following three channel types when creating them:
-
Public: Read the article Public channels for more information.
-
Password protected: Read the article Public channels
-
Encrypted: Read the article Encrypted channels
The creation of public and password-protected channels can be prevented by the administration. If the functions described below are required but cannot be selected, refer your administrator to the article Additional organizational settings | Prohibit the creation of public and password protected channels.
The administration can also select the channel type "organization-wide". For more info read the article Organization-wide channels.
Contact group channel (@Channel):
Contact group channels (@Channel) are created automatically by editing a contact group and checking the "Create channel" box. This must be done by the administration in the organization settings under "Contact groups." For more information, see the article Contact group channels (@Channels).
