You can reply to messages to refer to them. The message you reply to will then be quoted above your message and can be clicked/tapped to jump to the old message.
In the web/desktop client

Go to the desired chat and scroll to the message you want to reply to.

Double-click on the message.

A quote of the message will now appear in your message field. You can click on the x on the right-hand side to remove the quote.
Alternatively, you can also do the following:

Go to the desired chat and scroll to the message you want to reply to.

Navigate to the message with the cursor and click on the icon on the right or right-click on the message.

A menu will open. Select "Answer".

A quote of the message will now appear in your message field. You can click on the x on the right to remove the quote.
In iOS

Go to the desired chat and scroll to the message you want to reply to.

Place your finger on the message and swipe right to reply.

A quote of the message will now appear in your message field. You can click the x on the right to remove the quote.
On Android
