Read confirmation/sending status of a message

You can tell the sending status of a message by its assigned symbol.
The sending status is influenced by your account status but also the privacy settings of your communication partner(s).

Status of a message:

A message shows: Navigation.Horizontal.svg

The message was not sent (yet). It is recommended to stay in the chat until this status changes, to make sure that the message is delivered correctly.

A message shows: Message.Sent.svg

The message was delivered to the server succesfully and can be received from the communication partner(s).

A message shows: Message.Sent.All.svg

The message has been read by a communication partner who has the read confirmation enabled. (Disabling/enabling the read confirmation after reading an unread message, does not change its “read information”.)


User setting regarding the read confirmation

Changing this setting on one device will change it on every other device you are currently signed in or will log into in the future.

Settings for Android/iOS:

  1. Tap on the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg symbol at the top left to open the menu.

  2. Open the Settings.svg settings.

  3. Select "Privacy".

  4. Here you can find the slider for “read receipt". If it is activated you will send the read comfirmation when reading an unread message.

Settings for web-/desktopclient:

  1. Click on the Settings.svg symbol at the bottom left and select “settings”.

  2. Select “Privacy”.

  3. Here you can choose to suppress the read confirmation. If the checkbox is not checked you will send the read confirmation when reading an unread message.


Privacy-by-Default

Newly created accounts have the read confirmation suppressed, because GDPR demands the principle of “Privacy by Default”.

It is not allowed to force users to send a read confirmation, they can freely choose.
