Search messages

You can search for keywords in the messages of a conversation or a channel.

In the web/desktop client:

1. Click on the conversation or channel you want to search through.

2. Click on the search icon on the right side of the name of the conversation or channel.

3. You can input the start and end time of your search. The maximal search period is 3 months.

4. Enter the terms you want to search for in the text input field called “Search for messages” and click on “Search”.

In iOS:

1. Tap on the conversation or channel you want to search through.

2. Tap on the name of the conversation or channel.

3. Choose the menu item “ Search”.

4. Enter the terms you want to search for into the text input field and accept by tapping the “Search” button on your keyboard.

5. Below the search field there is a text saying “Search to: [date]”. Below there will be a list of all messages containing the search terms that were sent after the given date.

6. Below all messages found there is a button saying “Load more messages”. Tap on that button to increase the search period for one month.

In Android:

1. Tap on the conversation or channel you want to search through.

2. Tap on the icon on the right of the name of the conversation or channel.

3. Choose “Search”.

4. Enter your search terms into the field “Search for messages”.

5. To edit the search period tap on the date above the search field.

6. A page called “Filter” appears. Tap on the row “Time period”. There are two ways to enter the search period:

   1. Choose the start time in the calender view, afterwards choose the end time in the calender view. The maximal search period is three months.

   2. Tap on the pen icon . Enter the start and end time in the corresponding text input fields in the format dd/mm/yyyy. The maximal search period is three months.

7. There will be a list of all messages containing the search terms sent in the entered time period below the search field.

Search messages in all chats

You can search for messages containing a search term in all your chats simultaneously.

In the web/desktop client

1. Click on the icon in the bottom right of the page.

2. Proceed like searching a single conversation above.

On mobile

1. Tap on the menu at the top left.

2. Tap on “ Search”.

3. Proceed like searching a single conversation above.
