Reset password

As a user, you can change your passwords. You can change your account password and your encryption password.

Password resets may be prohibited by your organization. In this case, you will often log in via a directory server connected via LDAP. In any case, contact your administration if resetting is not possible. As an administrator, read the article Additional organizational settings | Berechtigung zur Änderung von Login Daten.

Reset account password

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on Settings.svg in the lower left corner and go to Settings.

  1. Click on "Account password" under the term "Account."

  1. Enter your current password in the top text field.

  1. Enter the new password in the second text field. Please note the password guidelines displayed below the text fields.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Click "Change account password."

In iOS

  1. Tap the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu in the top left corner.

  1. Tap your username at the top.

  1. Tap the "Security" button in the first block.

  1. Tap the "Account password" button.

  1. Enter your current password in the top text field.

  1. Enter the new password in the second text field. Please note the password guidelines displayed below the text fields.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Tap "Change account password."

On Android

  1. Tap the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu in the top left corner.

  1. Tap the Settings.svg icon next to your username at the top.

  1. Tap the "Account" button.

  1. Tap the second field, "Account password."

  1. Enter your current password in the top text field.

  1. Enter the new password in the second text field. Please note the password guidelines displayed below the text fields.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Tap "Change account password."

Change encryption password

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on Settings.svg in the lower left corner and go to Settings.

  1. Click on "Encryption" under the term "Account."

  1. Scroll to the "Change encryption password" section.

  1. Enter your current encryption password in the top text field.

  1. Enter the new password in the second text field. Please note the password guidelines displayed below the text fields. The encryption password must not be the same as your account password.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Click on "Change encryption password."

In iOS

  1. Tap the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu in the top left corner.

  1. Tap your username at the top.

  1. Tap the "Security" button in the first block.

  1. Tap the "Encryption" button.

  1. Tap the "Encryption password" button.

  1. Enter your current encryption password in the top text field.

  1. Enter the new password in the second text field. Follow the password guidelines displayed below the text fields. The encryption password must not be the same as your account password.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Tap "Change encryption password."

In Android

  1. Tap the menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg menu in the upper left corner.

  1. Tap the Settings.svg icon next to your username at the top.

  1. Tap the "Account" button.

  1. Tap on "Encryption."

  1. Tap the "Change encryption password" button.

  1. Enter your current encryption password in the top text field.

  1. Enter your new password in the second text field. Please note the password guidelines displayed below the text fields. The encryption password must not be the same as your account password.

  2. Confirm the new password in the third text field.

  1. Tap "Change password."
