Public channels can only be created by users via the channel overview. When creating a channel, select "public" as the channel type in the menu under Name and Description. For more information on creating channels, see the article Create a channel .
The creation of public and password-protected channels can be prevented by the administration. If the functions described below are required but cannot be selected, please refer your administrator to the article Additional organizational settings | Prohibit the creation of public and password protected channels.
The creator of the channel is automatically the channel manager and can promote other members to channel managers or demote other channel managers to channel members via the channel info.
Messages in a public channel are transport-encrypted. For more information on encryption, see the article Information regarding encryption.
All users can join a public channel via the channel list. For more information, see the article Joining a channel. All members of the channel can also send invitations to other users to join the public channel.
Even before a user joins a public channel, they can read all messages in the public channel and export the chat history
