Leaving a channel

As a user, you can leave channels of the type "Encrypted," "Password-protected," or "Public" at any time.

It is not possible to leave an organization-wide channel. Leaving a contact group channel can only be done by an administrator by removing the member from the contact group. For more information, see the article Contact groups.

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on the channel you want to leave.

  1. Click on the Navigation.Vertical.svg icon in the top right corner.

  1. Select "Leave Channel".

  1. The "leave Channel" field will open, asking you to confirm. Click on "leave Channel" at the bottom.

In iOS

  1. Go to the channel overview.

  1. Tap and hold the channel you want to leave.

  1. A menu will open. Tap on the "Leave" option at the bottom.

  1. The "Leave channel" pop-up will open, asking you to confirm. Tap "Leave" on the right.

In Android

  1. Go to the channel overview.

  1. Tap and hold the channel you want to leave.

  1. A menu will open. Tap on the "Leave channel" option at the bottom.

  1. The "Leave channel" pop-up will open, asking you to confirm. Tap "Leave" on the right.
