You can have messages from different languages translated into the language of your user interface.
This feature must be enabled by your administration. As an admin, read the article Activate additional tools (Calender, surveys, jitsi-videoconferences and more) and activate the "Translate messages" module.
Please note that the message text must be sent to the translation service in unencrypted form for translation.
The translation is performed using libretranslate. For more information on the languages that can be translated, please refer to the documentation.
In the web/desktop client

Go to the message you want to have translated.

Right-click on the message.

A menu will open. Select "Translate".

The message will be displayed in the language of your user interface. Next to the send time and send status, this is indicated by a
icon. -
Leave the conversation and reopen it to see the original message.
In iOS

Go to the message you want to translate.

Tap and hold the message.

To display the original text again, tap and hold again and select "Original text". Leaving the chat and closing the app leaves the message translated.
On Android

Go to the message you want to tra nslate.

Several icons will appear at the top of the screen. Tap the
icon.

Select "Translate message".

To view the original text again, tap and hold again and select "Show Original". Leaving and reopening the conversation will also allow you to see the original text
