You also have the option to configure the following settings:

Change line break key assignment

By default, a message is sent when you press the line break key. You can insert a line break by pressing Shift+Enter. You can reverse this priority. Regardless of this, you always send the message by clicking on the paper airplane icon.

  1. Click on Settings.svg settings in the lower left corner.

  2. Under the heading "Account," click on "Display."

  3. Scroll to the "Line break" block.

  4. Press the switch to change the key assignment.

Change the sort order in the contact book

Whenever you select contacts, such as when viewing the contact book, Invite to a channel, Invite to a poll, the contact list will be displayed in alphabetical order. You can set whether the names are displayed in the format "First name Last name" or "Last name, First name." Regardless of this, you can decide whether to sort by the first letter of the first name or last name. You can make these settings on all devices. The setting will then take effect on all your devices.

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on Settings.svg "Settings" at the bottom left.

  2. Under the heading "Account," click on "Presentation".

  3. Scroll to the "Contacts" block.

  4. Under "Sort order," select the order in which the list will be sorted.

  5. Under "Display order", select how the names will be displayed.

In iOS

  1. Tap menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg in the top left corner .

  2. Tap your username at the top.

  3. Tap the "Display" button in the second block.

  4. Under "Sort order" select the order in which the list will be sorted.

  5. Under "Display order" select how the names will be displayed.

On Android

  1. Tap menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg at the top left .

  2. Tap the Settings.svg icon next to your username at the top.

  3. Tap the "Display" button.

  4. In the "Contacts" block, under "Sort order," select the order in which the list will be sorted.

  5. In the "Contacts" block, under "Display order," select how you want the names to be displayed.

Display and delete active devices

You can display all currently active end devices for your stashcat account. Here you can view information about the end devices and remove them. If you remove an end device in this way, the user will be logged out and all locally stored data for your account will be deleted from the end device.

The administration can prevent the editing of end devices. If you need access to the functions described here and the setting is not possible, refer your admin to the article Additional organizational settings | Endgeräte verwalten.

In the web/desktop client

  1. Click on Settings.svg settings at the bottom left.

  2. Under the heading "Account," click on "Devices".

  3. Here you can see a list of the most recently active devices on your account. To delete a device, click on the icon. You will be asked to confirm. Click on "Delete." You will receive the following information about the devices:

    1. Status: "Active" or "Inactive" is displayed under the device name. An active device is currently in use.

    2. Authenticated: The time at which you activated the device.

    3. Date of Expiry: After a period of one month, the device is automatically classified as invalid. Using the device automatically extends this period. After the period has expired, the device must be re-authenticated.

    4. Last request: Time of last use/activity of the terminal device.

    5. Last IP address.

    6. End-to-end encryption: If the word is marked as active, the device can receive and decrypt end-to-end encrypted messages.

In iOS

  1. Tap menu_24dp_1F1F1F_FILL0_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.svg in the upper left corner .

  2. Tap your username at the top.

  3. Tap "Security" in the first block.

  4. Tap "Devices".

  5. Here you will see a list of the most recently active devices on your account. Tap on a device from the list.

  6. To delete a device, tap "Delete device" at the bottom. You will be asked to confirm. Tap "Delete device." You will receive the following information about the devices:

    1. Status: "Offline" or "Online." A device with the status "Online" is currently actively used.

    2. Signed in: The time at which you activated the device.

    3. Valid until: After a period of one month, the device is automatically classified as invalid. Using the device automatically extends this period. Once the period has expired, the device must be re-authenticated.

    4. Last IP address.

    5. Encryption: If the word "Active" is noted, the device can receive and decrypt end-to-end encrypted messages.

In Android

  2. Tap the Settings.svg icon next to your username at the top.

  3. Tap the "Account" button.

  4. Tap "Devices".

Call settings

You can set your preferred input and output devices for voice and video calls on your computer. You can also set other sounds to be muted during calls.

  1. Click on Settings.svg settings in the lower left corner.

  2. Under the heading "Account," click on "Call Settings."

  3. Select the desired devices in the "Video", "Speakers and Headphones" and "Microphone" blocks and test them with test tones.

  4. Under “Other Settings”, you can mute the other sounds by toggling the switch.

  5. Click “Save” at the bottom.

Set language

You can switch the language between German and English. The mobile client always uses the system language of the smartphone. Change this in the device settings of your smartphone. The language displayed depends on the client and may vary on different devices.

  1. Click on Settings.svg Settings in the bottom left corner.

  2. Under the heading "Client", click on "Language".

  3. Choose between "Deutsch" and "Englisch".

Hide chat

In the web/desktop client, you can always display the chat window as blurred when you are not actively using the window to minimize other people reading your messages.

  1. Click on Settings.svg Settings in the bottom left corner.

  2. Under the term "Client," click on "Security."

  3. Press the "Hide chat" switch.

Automatic start of the desktop application

Only in the desktop client can you set the application to open automatically when the system starts. This may be preset by the administration.

  1. Click on Settings.svg Settings in the bottom left corner.

  2. Under the term "Client," click on "Automatic Start."

  3. Press the button.
